Responding to Hurricane Harvey
Your NW DR leadership is in the process of determining when and where we can send our trained disaster relief teams. The first of the teams deployed on 9/12 to Houston while another team leaves right after them for the Galveston area. We do not self-deploy but rather work with the Texas Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Teams to provide the requested help and are expecting to be requested multiple times through the end of 2017 and likely beyond. Below is a quick word from one of our volunteers currently deployed.
The first step is to discover the availability of our trained DR volunteers. Please click here and enter your information. We will provide you with the specifics of travel and ministry as Texas makes request to us. Please be patient and keep us up to date on your availability.
The second step is to be sure that your background check, ID badge and food handling cards are current.
Any member of a Northwest Baptist Convention church, aged 18 or older, may deploy with us however they must first obtain the required background check, ID badge and essential training in Disaster Relief.
If you are planning on deploying with Northwest Baptist Disaster Relief, please review our Prepare to Serve page . There you will also find forms you will need such as the required release and Indemnity form, medical form, the church membership verification form, and a handy list of what you should pack when deployed. Note: All volunteers are to provide their own medical insurance.
If you have not yet been trained, there may be training opportunities before deploying. If you are interested, please contact your regional coordinator.
